I was born in Scotland, many years ago, and now have over 40 years of working with wildlife, in Zoos, Game Farms, Breeding Centers and other places where animals are kept in captivity. As I grow older, don’t know how much older I can get, I’m ancient now, I feel sad for animals in captivity. I wish we could have everything running free but in the real world that will not happen.
Fortunately Zoos are upgrading and giving their animals better conditions and the big word here is- ENRICHMENT. Trying to make the best out of a difficult situation
There we go, changing the subject already, we’ll get back to enrichment later.
I have worked for over 30 years with Cheetahs. My first time was on the game farm I took over as manager. 20 cheetahs and me with no idea what to do. Luckily there were people around to help, over the phone, which were landlines in those days. But I managed and with patience and observation I learnt about cheetahs. Now after all those years I can say I know a bit more about cheetahs than the average person
